Waiting List
Keep the guests you had to turn away.
What it's for
Being full is not the problem. Losing the guest is. Someone calls for Saturday at eight, hears “sorry, we are fully booked”, and books somewhere else — and then two cancellations come in on Friday and those tables go out empty.
The waiting list keeps that guest on the board. You take the same details you would for a booking, and they sit as a wanted time rather than a confirmed one.
When a cancellation opens the slot, the list is right there beside your bookings: you can see who wanted that time, call them, and turn a gap back into a full room.

Frequently asked questions
Does a waiting list entry hold the table?
No. It holds nothing and blocks nothing — it is a note of who wanted that time, so a cancellation does not have to be a loss.
Will guests be told automatically when a slot frees up?
No, and that is deliberate. Which waiting guest to offer a freed table to is a judgement about party size and timing that the floor should make, not an automatic message.
Can guests put themselves on the list from my booking page?
Not at the moment. Entries are taken by your staff, in person or over the phone.
