Every online booking waits for your yes.
What it's for
Some venues cannot simply accept whatever the internet sends them. A tasting menu, a boat, a treatment room, a table on a Saturday night — you want to look at the request before it becomes a promise.
With approval on, an online booking arrives as a REQUEST. It holds its slot so nobody else can take it, but it is not confirmed, and the guest is told plainly that an answer is coming. Nothing about it pretends to be a booking until you say so.
Approve it and the guest hears immediately. Decline it and they hear that too — which is the part most venues skip, and the part guests actually remember. Either way it takes one tap on the mainboard.

Does the guest know they are not confirmed?
Yes, in as many words. The last page of the booking flow says the request is not a confirmed reservation and asks them to wait for your reply, and the message they receive says the same.
Can someone else take the slot while I decide?
No. A pending request holds its table, room or slot exactly as a confirmed booking would. That is the point — you are deciding, not gambling.
What happens to bookings taken before I switched it on?
Nothing. Bookings already confirmed stay confirmed. Approval only affects online bookings that arrive after you arm it.
